Title: TLS in Practice and Research Topics

Presenter: Kentech 이현우 교수

Abstract: The TLS protocol is the most widely used security protocol on the Internet. Due to its popularity, TLS has been extensively studied with regard to adoption in diverse environments, formal verification, middlebox compatibility, performance enhancement, and so on. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the protocol with its related research topics. Especially, I will talk about the TLS extension that makes itself compatible with network middleboxes, security analysis of TLS 1.3 in practice, and performance enhancement of TLS 1.3.

Bio: Hyunwoo Lee is an assistant professor in the department of energy engineering at KENTECH. Before joining KENTECH, he was a postdoc at Purdue University under Prof. Bertino researching security verification of mobile network protocols and AI-based intrusion detection systems. He received B.S. and Ph D. at Seoul National University. His research interests lie in network security including security verification of network protocols, design and implementation of new security protocol, and AI-based network security.
